Do you know the “International Peace Village” (Internationales Friedensdorf) in Düsseldorf, Germany?
I must admit that I had not heard about the Peace Villages before I arrived in Germany. The concept is easy: children from humanitarian crisis areas worldwide are summoned and flown to Germany in order to receive the medical treatment they need. After they have undergone surgery, treatment, or rehabilitation provided by university hospitals and other cooperating partners, the children return to their home countries with the support of volunteer groups. There are also many volunteers from Japan. Please be so kind to have a look at their website.
